Move Over, Buzz. Ralph Is Wrecking Tomorrowland — and Bringing Snacks.

Tokyo Disneyland's first-ever Wreck-It Ralph attraction has an official opening date, and things are about to get deliciously chaotic.
Well, it looks like Ralph is about to wreck more than the internet.
Tokyo Disneyland has officially announced that Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will open April 15, 2027, bringing the candy-colored world of Wreck-It Ralph to Tomorrowland. And because apparently saving an entire kingdom of sweets isn't enough excitement, Disney is also throwing in interactive gameplay, new merchandise, castle projections, and a popcorn flavor we have approximately a thousand questions about.
Oh, and did we mention this will be the world's first Disney theme park attraction based on Wreck-It Ralph?
Sorry, Buzz. There's a new arcade game in town.
From Space Rangers to Sugar Bugs
If you've visited Tokyo Disneyland before, you might remember Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, the interactive attraction where guests helped defeat Emperor Zurg while discovering that some members of their family take laser-shooting games entirely too seriously.
That attraction closed in October 2024, and its former home is getting a very sweet makeover.
In Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, guests will enter the colorful video game world made famous in Wreck-It Ralph, joining Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, and their friends on a mission to save the kingdom.
Naturally, there's trouble.
King Candy has transformed innocent treats, including gumdrops, ice cream, and other sugary delights, into mischievous creatures called Sugar Bugs. These little troublemakers are programmed to devour the kingdom, and it's up to guests to help restore them to their original adorable forms.
Because nothing says Disney vacation quite like saving the world from weaponized candy.
Yes, It's Interactive. Yes, We're Going to Get Competitive.
Much like the attraction it replaces, Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue will feature interactive gameplay.
Guests will use scanners installed in their ride vehicles to target Sugar Bugs, earning points based on how many they restore and which types they encounter.
Scores will appear on screens inside the vehicles, and guests will also be able to view their results through the Tokyo Disney Resort app for a limited time following their ride.
Disney is even incorporating ride photos into the experience, allowing guests to find and purchase their pictures through the app.
And there's another fun detail: the attraction will feature newly composed music by Henry Jackman, who also created the score for the original Wreck-It Ralph film.
Between the music, colorful environments, and competitive gameplay, this sounds like an attraction that could appeal to both younger guests and adults who still haven't emotionally recovered from losing at Toy Story Mania.
Not naming names.
The Celebration Starts Months Before Opening Day
Disney isn't waiting until April to start the party.
Beginning January 12, 2027, guests will be able to play a special smartphone mini-game that serves as training for their upcoming Sugar Rush adventure.
The game will be accessible from home, with a special park-specific version available in select areas of Tokyo Disneyland.
Then, on February 18, Tomorrowland will begin receiving themed decorations and photo opportunities inspired by the new attraction.
And starting March 18, Cinderella Castle will feature special projections celebrating the world of Sugar Rush.
That's right. The candy invasion is spreading to the castle.
We're not complaining.
And Now, the Most Important Part: The Snacks

We appreciate a new attraction. We love a good Disney soundtrack. But we would be neglecting our journalistic responsibilities if we didn't discuss the food.
Disney has announced a new Sugar-Lime Popcorn flavor inspired by the Sugar Bugs featured in the attraction.
Sweet. Tart. Possibly addictive.
The new flavor will be available at Popping Station, a futuristic popcorn stand opening March 17, 2027, near the attraction, as well as at other popcorn wagons throughout Tokyo Disneyland.
For anyone unfamiliar with Tokyo Disney Resort's popcorn culture, the parks are famous for their creative flavors and collectible popcorn buckets. So naturally, we're intrigued.
A new merchandise shop called Pixel Prism will also open April 15 alongside the attraction, featuring themed products and other souvenirs. Expect a colorful, video-game-inspired shopping experience, complete with pixel-patterned floors and illuminated details.
Disney has also announced special food offerings and merchandise celebrating the attraction's debut.
Our wallets would like to request privacy during this difficult time.
A New Chapter for Tomorrowland
There's something particularly fitting about the opening date.
April 15, 2027, marks Tokyo Disneyland's 44th anniversary, making the debut of Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue part of a much larger celebration.
It's also another milestone in the ongoing transformation of Tomorrowland.
The park has additional projects in development, including the upcoming Space Mountain Earthrise attraction, as Disney continues reimagining what its vision of tomorrow should look like.
And apparently, tomorrow involves a whole lot more candy.
So, Are We Ready to Get Wrecked?
We always have mixed feelings when a beloved Disney attraction closes. Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters was a classic, and plenty of guests have wonderful memories of battling Zurg.
But Disney parks have always been about finding new ways to tell stories, and Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue sounds like a colorful, playful addition to Tokyo Disneyland.
An interactive attraction? Check.
Beloved animated characters? Check.
A chance to embarrass your family members with an unnecessarily competitive ride score? Absolutely.
And if we can finish the experience with a bag of Sugar-Lime Popcorn, well, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal.
Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue officially opens April 15, 2027, at Tokyo Disneyland.
Game on.
